This course will include information on identifying customers when transactions. This course will also emphasize the importance of protecting the institution and its assets by preventing identity theft and other types of fraud. After completing this program, the learner will be able to:

  • Appropriately and thoroughly identify customers
  • Examine signatures and utilize signature cards
  • Differentiate between primary and secondary forms of identification
      Course Topics

      T1. Identifying A Customer: This topic will define customer identification and will introduce the learner to the basics of customer identification, such as asking for identification, knowing what identifies a customer, and how to examine identification.

      T2. Examining Signatures: This topic will familiarize the learner with examining signatures by specifying which elements a signature should be examined for, such as shape, spacing, and size.

      T3. Signature Cards: This topic will define signature cards and will educate the learner as to what is on a signature card and how to use them.

      T4. Primary Identification: This topic will define primary identification by providing the learner with explanations of the most common forms of primary identification, such as a driver’s license, a State ID, and a passport, and how to examine these forms of identification.

      T5. Secondary Identification: This topic will define secondary identification by providing the learner with explanations of the most common forms of secondary identification, such as a valid major credit card, a current student ID, and a thumbprint signature, and how to examine these forms of identification.
